Some love stories begin with love-at-first-sight. For others love grows slowly over time and never fails to show itself unexpectedly. Shannon and Spencer’s love story is not a story of love-at-first sight, but that does not mean the love they share for each other is any different than the love found in what most people consider a fairy tale.
Shannon and Spencer’s love story actually began in quite the opposite of what people think of when it comes to positive first impressions. Shannon and Spencer were introduced through mutual friends, but Spencer was not in the best mood when he was introduced to Shannon and Shannon was not sure what to make of him.
Though it did not make for the best first impression, Spencer’s momentary bad mood was not permanent and Shannon experienced a more pleasant Spencer on future interactions. Sure enough as the months passed and the seasons changed so did their feelings for each other. Now that first encounter is more something to be laughed about as part of a memorable story of two people coming together.
After a successful Super Bowl victory by Shannon’s New England Patriots, Shannon and Spencer shared there first kiss. Just a year and a few extra months later passed before Shannon and Spencer officially became boyfriend and girlfriend. Over their relationship, they have bonded over football and music.
Spencer admitted that he loved Shannon before they were even dating though for him it only became more clear over their relationship and the time they spent together that he wanted to spend the rest of his life by her side. Spencer fondly reflected on how much the nights they spent together eating dinner, playing board games, and sharing a bottle of wine allowed them to get to know each other and how it helped him decide that she was the one.
It took Shannon a little longer to say “I love you” back to Spencer even though she knew she loved him. Shannon described being scared of saying it even though Spencer was a sweetheart and her best friend. But she overcame her fear and told Spencer that she loved him as well and she stated that she was so glad she said it!
But life always throws curveballs on our direction and when you’re in a relationship, one of the biggest curveballs that happen is finding out someone you care deeply about is moving. Shannon and Spencer found themselves in this situation when Shannon told Spencer that she was moving out of California and she was not sure where she would end up. The two likely places for Shannon’s relocation were Washington and Arizona. The possibility of being separated from your best friend can certainly alter plans or perspectives on the relationship. When it came to marriage, Spencer knew that he wanted to propose to Shannon long before he ever popped the question and he said he definitely benefited from Shannon choosing to move to Arizona. For Shannon, she knew she wanted to marry Spencer during the process of moving from California to Arizona. She found the prospect of not knowing if they would be able to make a long distance relationship last or not heartbreaking because she had been used to seeing Spencer everyday. Shannon explained that Spencer just gets her and loves her like no one else ever could so she knew she hoped that one day she would take his last nam.
While on a trip to Las Vegas to meet up with his sister-in-law Robyn and brother, Shannon was curious what was going on with him because he was acting a little weird and was not being very talkative. She attributed his behavior to being tired from Spencer staying up late the previous night with Shannon’s father. But low and behold, outside of the Venetian water fountains, Spencer took Shannon’s hand, told her how much he loved her and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. Then he got down on one knee for the proposal and Shannon of course said YES!!!
These two are so adorable together and have such a wonderful love story! I can’t wait to celebrate the love that these two share on their wedding day!
